How Effective is Clothing In A Marketing Campaign?

Posted on 2020-09-052020-12-13

Marketing is a tricky game. There are hundreds of different sources out there all providing different tricks and tactics to achieve a successful marketing campaign. And it can be difficult to separate the junk from the gold. Reputable sources get lost in the mix and honest companies fall victim to misinformation almost constantly. And that can be devastating. Especially for newer companies just starting to make a name for themselves.

Marketing campaigns cost money, and no small amount either if it is done right. So it is vital that everything is done correctly to ensure no money is being wasted. So we are going to look at a very popular marketing method often employed by big and small companies alike. Clothing.

The Idea

Everyone knows how this one works. We all wear clothes every day of our life. So if you can get your brand onto a T-shirt or a hat and get people wearing it, that equals free advertising. And free advertising is worth more than gold to a new business.

So many companies will sink hundreds of dollars into producing branded fashion. Then will then distribute this either for free or for a small cost.

But how effective is this?

Aginst Tradition

Traditional advertising methods, such as TV commercials or Billboards, guarantee your marketing will be seen by a certain amount of people. Even if they don’t pay attention to it, they will see it. This is a positive for any company because it gets your brand rooted in their subconscious.

With clothes, there is always the risk that no one will wear your items. The people who get the clothing could let it gather dust in their wardrobe, meaning no one will ever see it. This would mean you have wasted a substantial amount of money on a failed marketing strategy.

On the other side of the argument, we have seen a sharp upward trend in fashion in recent years. People are slowly becoming wise to traditional advertising methods and becoming sick of it. Whereas branded clothing is becoming increasingly popular, especially with the younger crowds. A good example of this is when a small-town church created a range of quality christian t-shirts with their church name on it. After a month they saw a massive uptake in their numbers during service.

A Solid Investment?

It can be scary investing in something as uncertain as branded clothing. You stand to lose everything if it fails. But if it works, it will be worth more than any traditional marketing method. Stepping into the world of business is a huge risk, no matter what way you look at it. And it requires you to take risks to be successful. So if you want a high-risk high-reward strategy, then branded clothing is the way forward. If not, that’s ok. There are plenty of alternatives out there.
