You might read that titles and instantly think its a no brainer as to who is the victor. America is universally known as the Capitalist utopia. A continent built upon adverts, product placement, and big business. But we have to ask: Are Americas Marketing strategies actually effective? Or is the illusion breaking and the world is finally starting to embrace different ideas and methods?
Recently, Australia has seen a massive increase in numbers related to a variety of different sectors. General citizen wealth and happiness. Decreased homeless and a higher living wage. Lower crime rates and higher employee satisfaction. But what about the world of marketing?
Australia Vs USA
In a recent study conducted by a Business think tank operating in Oxford, they found that SEO Brisbane was actually responsible for bringing five large America Corporations into the Green in 2019. Another study found that nearly 40% of American firms have ties in Australia business think tanks, advisory boards, and teaching schemes.
So why is it that Australia is seemingly dominating the marketing game so effectively. Firstly, Australia is operating under what we are calling a ‘Unified Demographic.’ The USA has a population that dwarfs Australias. And the percentage mixture of cultures, heritages, and nationalities within America is vastly different from Australias.
This makes it generally easier for Australia to market anything. Their population has a huge sense of shared identity and national pride. That isn’t to say the country isn’t diverse, but Australian marketing firms can be sure one successful campaign will work across most of the country.
All of this is well and good if the marketing landscape was confined simply to their own country. But, thanks to the internet, marketing is a global game now. And it is here that America continually crushes both Australia and the rest of the world.
You need only walk down any high street and you will see America’s influence. Mcdonalds. Coca-Cola. KFC. America Tv shows are consumed the world over. Even Australia has become another offset of American capitalism. And while Australian companies market to their own population with great efficiency, they do not have a solid foothold in the rest of the world.
In the marketing world, it could be argued that America’s ability to successfully market themselves to the globe puts them on top of the scoreboard. But it must be taken into consideration that a lot of the skills and strategies being used are coming from Australian firms.
This begs the question, what is more important. The strategy or the outcome?
Some would say since the marketing game is all about results, the winner is America. They will beat out Australia every time when it comes down to pure numbers.
But if we are talking about knowledge, skill, and education. Australia is definitely steaming ahead of America. And, who knows, in a few year’s time they might slip ahead and become the new Kings of the Marketing world.
